Maumee Senior Center Empowering Caregivers with Tools for Success

Starting on Sept. 18, the Maumee Senior Center will be holding their “Powerful Tools for Caregivers Series” at the Maumee Senior Center on 2340 South Detroit Avenue in Maumee.

Often times the most difficult and challenging times are caregivers who are often thrown into the role of caring for a loved one without little support or guidance. Malinda Ruble hopes with this series of programming, that workload for caregivers becomes much more manageable.

“This program is here to help caregivers learn the skills needed to take better care of themselves and improve their care-giving skills, communication and relationships.” Ruble stated.

The program focuses on all the tools that a caregiver will need to manage their personal needs and the needs of their loved ones including stress management techniques, creative problem-solving and learning to utilize community resources to your advantage. These are free, 90-minute virtual classes that are open to anyone providing care for someone currently, has cared for someone in the past or anticipates becoming a caregiver.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is lead certified instructors Laree Shroyer, a licensed social worker with over 20 years of experience and Malinda Ruble. The combined experience of Shroyer and Ruble provides in-depth and practical knowledge on all the questions caregivers may have experienced.
