NWO Alzheimer’s Association’s new phone-in support group

The Northwest Ohio chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association announced the launch of a new phone-based support group for caregivers of individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Aimed at helping family members develop coping techniques and to be mindful of their own personal health in the process, each session will be led by a trained dementia caregiver.

The group is available every week, though its meeting day will vary from week to week.

The group’s schedule is currently as follows:
Tuesday, April 14 at 1pm
Tuesday, April 21 at 1pm
Thursday, April 30 at 10am

The NWO Alzheimer’s Association announced earlier this month that it would begin operating completely remotely after the COVID-19 outbreak, but remains committed to providing support to area families.

“Support groups are a way for caregivers to not feel so alone, and provides an opportunity to learn from others who are also caring for someone with dementia,” said executive director Julia Pechlivanos in a press release.

Registration for the support group is required, as space will be limited. To register, simply call the NWO Alzheimer’s Hotline at 800-272-3900.
