Residents in Northwest Ohio now have a new option for joint replacement surgeries without the need for extensive travel. The Toledo Clinic Ambulatory Surgery Center is leading the way as the first facility in the region to offer outpatient total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, along with SI Fusion Procedures.
In August, Dr. Jason Levine performed the area’s first total knee arthroplasty in an outpatient setting. This procedure replaces damaged parts of the knee joint with artificial components to relieve pain and restore mobility, all while allowing patients to return home the same day.
“The Toledo Clinic is committed to patient-centered care, and by offering outpatient procedures like knee and hip replacements, we’re making these essential treatments more accessible,” said Dr. Jason Levine, MD, FAAOS. “Patients benefit from a quicker recovery and the comfort of being home the same day.”

With more than one million hip and knee replacements performed annually in the U.S., outpatient options are becoming increasingly popular. “The shift towards outpatient joint replacement is a natural progression as most patients meet the criteria for this setting,” said Dr. Levine. “This change will provide a better overall experience for our patients.”
Located at The Toledo Clinic’s Main Campus on Secor Road, the Ambulatory Surgery Center prioritizes personalized care by handling a select number of surgeries each day. With registration, surgical suites, and recovery rooms all in one location, the Center ensures a streamlined, convenient, and cost-effective experience for its patients.
