Area Office on Aging Launches Pilot Meal Program for Seniors

The Area Office on Aging, in collaboration with the Maumee Senior Center and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, launched a new pilot meal program at the Waterville Branch Library. Since its start, the program has distributed over 400 meals to local seniors. “Good nutrition is a key ingredient to a long and healthy life. The Maumee Senior Center and our partners are dedicated to enriching senior lives throughout the region. Everyone has been so appreciative of the grab-and-go meals that we are offering. Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center’s Wednesday Event Series

The Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center provides inspiration, information and a supportive community for brain injury survivors. Various programs create a space for TBI survivors and their loved ones to learn more and to thrive. One program,  the Speech, Discussion and Activity Group, meets every Wednesday from 11 am to 3 pm. Sunshine Communities’ Spooky Boardwalk

Join Sunshine Communities for a free event featuring over 50 vendors and community partners handing out candy. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the afternoon on Sunshine Communities’ campus from 2 pm to 4 pm Sunday, Oct. 13. Sunshine Communities, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting people of all ages with developmental disabilities. Toledo 3rd Annual Caring for the Caregiver Expo

This one day event is designed to say ‘thank you’ and provide pampering, health and fitness, lunch and learn, resources, information, open mic, education and employment opportunities for caregivers and first responders. All caregivers, mothers, fathers, grandparents, guardians, adult children, first responders and essential workers are invited to attend. 18+, all Caregivers must register and sign in at the door. Disability Advocate Anna Letitia Zivarts To Headline TARTA Community Update

As part of its effort to ensure that the things that make northwest Ohio a great place to live are accessible to everyone, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) announced author and disability advocate Anna Letitia Zivarts will be the keynote speaker for its Community Update Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Glass City Center. Zivarts is the author of When Driving Is Not An Option: Steering Away From Car Dependency, as well as the creator of the Week Without Driving, a national event which takes place Sept. 30 to Oct. 6. Her work highlights the challenges that nondrivers face while navigating mobility systems nationwide, and calls attention to how improving those systems with nondrivers in mind would create a better quality of life.
