Swing Time (1936) – Is it possible to be in a bad mood while watching Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing? We believe it is not, and there may be no more joyous film with the pair than 1936’s Swing Time. Starring Astaire as a down-on-his-luck groom-to-be who meets a dance school instructor played by Rogers, but the plot isn’t the point here, anyway. What matters are the dance sequences, and Swing Time features some of the most celebrated in the history of cinema.
