AccessTOL Hosts Airport Experience Event

Going to an airport when you are a person with a disability can be a nerve-wracking experience. AccessTOL is here to help.

AccessTOL is a program designed to make sure travelers with disabilities are comfortable and provided with safe access to all services at Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport.

The group hosts an Airport Experience Event, and the next one will be Monday, June 19 at 10:30 am at the Toledo Express Airport, 11013 Airport Highway.

Though AccessTOL’s purpose is to ensure accessibility at the airport, this event specifically focuses on teaching individuals how to visit the ticket counter to receive the boarding pass, get screened through TSA, check-in at the gate, walk through the jet bridge, and get their bags at baggage claim.

Essentially, AccessTOL wants to put any anxiety about traveling to rest, and combat a lack of information about traveling.

Every participant must RSVP for the event through AccessTOL’s website, or else they will not be able to attend.

Avenues for Autism, Transportation Security Administration, the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio and Choice Aviation Services are all sponsors of the event, and work with AccessTOL on furthering programming as it pertains to travel for people with disabilities.
