Local seniors invited to learn about safety importance at the 2nd Annual Senior Safety Expo in Perrysburg, organized by Safe Communities of Wood County and the Perrysburg Fire Division.
The Senior Safety Expo will take place Friday, Sept. 15 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Perrysburg Fire Division Headquarters, 26100 Fort Meigs Road.
There will be several resources at the safety expo to help seniors learn about safety importance. Resources include fall, poison, burn, scam and elder abuse prevention as well as a drive through Car Fit station to check vehicle safety and proper seat belt use, according to the event organizers.
To reserve a spot for the drive through Car Fit station call Sandy Wiechman, coordinator for Safe Communities of Wood County at 419-372-9353.
Safe Communities of Wood County is determined in keeping local seniors happy and healthy for as long as possible.
“There are more and more seniors that are living longer, which is wonderful,” Wiechman told NBC24 News last year. “We want to be able to help them in their houses longer, to drive longer, just to be out and enjoy their lives longer. So, we want to give them options on how to do that, how to be safe and how to stay fit in their car longer.”
The schedule for the event is as follows:
- Senior resource Information booths – 11 am to 2 pm
- Free Lunch and Learn – 12 pm to 1 pm
- Senior resource presentations – 1 pm to 2 pm
