For seven years—three as an outstanding center and four as the team’s coach—Greg Puhalski, whose nickname is “The Chief,” was a central figure on the Toledo Storm hockey team.
Toledo is poised to play host to its first CCM/All-Star Hockey Weekend. The four-day celebration, which begins Friday, January 18 and runs through Monday, January 21, will see five former Toledo hockey players inducted into the Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame.

Over 20 years ago the Toledo Warehouse District Association (TWDA) took on the task of renovating a group of unoccupied buildings on St. Clair near Lafayette, with hopes of generating interest in the area. In those early stages, many considered the effort futile. But if you believe Kathy Steingraber, former director of the TWDA, she knew the revitalization of downtown would eventually be a success.
“The most important takeaway I want people to have is hope. I want people to understand that there is always, always hope,” she said. “For widows who have lost a close loved one I also want them to know they’re not alone. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Whatever it is they’re doing, it is okay.”
