Mercy Health mobile mammography van is coming to several areas surrounding Lucas County throughout the month of September.
The first mobile mammography van in the region is offering 3D mammograms to women aged 40 and older throughout the twenty-one counties in Northwest Ohio.
“(The van) is equipped with the newest 3D technology and offers patients the option of self-compression, meaning the patient will have the ability to control the compression once they are in position,” Erica Blake, Mercy Health’s Director of Public Relations and Communications, said in a statement.
After your hassle-free screening, a certified radiologist will read your mammogram, and a computer software will double check those results. A copy of the results will be given to you and your physician.
According to Blake this new technology will make mammograms more accessible, faster and easier.
Locations that the van is coming to will include medical facilities throughout Toledo, Sylvania, Waterville, Perrysburg, Swanton, Tiffin and Brian.
These mammograms will be by appointment only, call 833-MAMM-VAN to schedule a screening, and visit their website for a full list of locations.
Screening mammograms are covered under most insurance carriers usually. If you are uninsured or underinsured, financial need-based assistance is available, and you may even qualify for a no cost mammogram.
For best insurance coverage, verify that Mercy Health – St Charles is in-network with your insurance carrier.
