Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Opens New Welcome Center in Toledo

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield marked the grand opening of its new Welcome Center in downtown Toledo on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community donations, underscoring its commitment to addressing the social drivers of health across Ohio.

Located at 132 N. Summit St., the center aims to improve whole health outcomes by connecting Anthem members and the broader community to essential non-clinical resources—such as food, housing, transportation, employment, and healthcare. The center will also host wellness classes and offer meeting space for nonprofits and government programs.

“The new Anthem Welcome Center in Toledo reflects our commitment to advancing whole health,” said Leon Lamoreaux, interim president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio Medicaid. “It’s a hub where individuals can access the resources they need to thrive.”

As part of the celebration, Anthem awarded $2,500 each to three local nonprofits: Cherry Street Mission, Help Me Grow, and Toledo SeaGate Food Bank’s Senior Box Program.

Local and state leaders attended, including State Rep. Elgin Rogers Jr. (D-Toledo), who offered remarks. Proclamations and resolutions came from Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and the Ohio Senate.

The UToledo Mobile Health Unit, sponsored in part by Anthem, was also on site, along with community partners, the Toledo Mud Hens mascot, and players from Toledo Villa FC.

This marks Anthem’s second Welcome Center in Ohio, following the launch of its Columbus location.
