Moviegoers had loved child star Shirley Temple for a long time before “The Little Princess” was released, but this was the first time they could see her in full color. The film, loosely based on a book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, tells the story of a young girl who is forced to become a servant in a seminary after her father goes missing in the Second Boer War.
