As spring approaches, the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St, Bowling Green, is offering a simple way for residents to get growing, completely free.
Inside the library, visitors will find a unique seed library tucked into a traditional card catalog on the second floor. There, a variety of herb, vegetable and flower seeds are available for anyone to take, making it easy to start a garden regardless of experience or budget. The program reflects the library’s broader mission to provide accessible resources that support learning, creativity and community connection.
More than just a giveaway, the seed library encourages a cycle of sharing. Community members are invited to donate seeds of their own, helping the collection grow and evolve with each planting season. Whether someone is cultivating a backyard plot or experimenting with a few pots at home, the initiative offers a low-pressure way to try something new.
