The Deutsche Volkstanz Gruppe will celebrate German heritage and tradition at Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 10 pm, at Oak Shade Grove, 3624 Seaman Road, Oregon.
Hosted by the Deutsche Volkstanz Gruppe, the annual festival brings German food, music, dancing and activities together for an afternoon and evening of family-friendly fun. The event opens at 2 pm with free admission and parking, followed by performances throughout the day.
The festival’s opening ceremony begins at 3 pm and will feature a parade of German and European cars, with representatives from the German-American Festival Society. Guests can also enjoy the Auto und Motorradshow, authentic German beer tasting and traditional German sports competitions, including Schleuderball throwing and Masskrugstemmen, a beer stein-holding competition.
The Deutsche Volkstanz Gruppe will perform traditional German folk dances at 3:30, 5, 6:30 and 8 pm Other entertainment includes performances by the Toledo Teutonia Chor, the d’Holzhackerbuam Schuhplattlers Kinder group and the Deutschmeister Band.
Food and beverages will be available throughout the festival, including new menu items that organizers are keeping secret until the event.
