Walker Funeral Homes to host a 3-day Grief Seminar.
The funeral home welcomes Bill Hoy, a national grif spokesman to hold different seminars regarding handling grief.
“The three seminars assist the a person who is going through the grief process, the clergy and spiritual care advocates who work with the bereaved and assists social workers and counselors to better understand the ethics for creating honest conversation process of grief support,” Walker Funeral Homes said in a press release.
The General Public Grief Seminar will be held at the Oak Leaf Village, 4430 Holland Sylvania Road on Wednesday, Oct. 23 beginning at 6:30 pm. Attendees can enjoy a dessert bar from 7 pm to 8 pm. A keynote “Good Grief Practices in a Grief-Avoiding Word” will be presented, with a Q&A session to follow.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, a Spiritual Care/Chaplin Breakfast will be held at Walker Funeral Homes, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. A buffet-style hot breakfast will be served from 7:30 am to 8 am with a Keynote and Q&A “How Trauma complicates the loss experience” following the breakfast.

A Provider and Hospital Staff Event will be held at Flower Hospital from beginning with bagels and cream cheese at 11, with a keynote and W&A “Hot to Have Hard Conversations” to follow.
A Social Workers/Counselors – CEU-Ethic seminar will be held on Friday, Oct. 25 at Witzler-Shank Walker Funeral Homes, 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg. Attendees can enjoy bagels and cream cheese from 8-9am, with a keynote and Q&A “What do We Tell, Who do we Tell” afterward.
All seminars will be led by Hoy, a clinical professor of Medical Humanities at Baylor University. Hoy has over 35 years of experience in caring for the dying and bereaved.
