Toledo Symphony Honors Outstanding Music Educator of the Year
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra named Michelle Keaster of Monclova Christian Academy the 2025–26 Outstanding Music Educator of the Year. The annual award recognizes K–12 music teachers across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan who inspire students and foster a lifelong appreciation for music. Keaster, now in her 17th year at Monclova Christian, is honored for her dedication to teaching general music, choir and band, as well as her lasting impact on students’ musical and personal development.
BGSU Earns Tree Campus Recognition for Third Consecutive Year
Bowling Green State University has been recognized for a third consecutive year, by the Arbor Day Foundation, with a Tree Campus Higher Education designation. The recognition highlights BGSU’s commitment to sustainable campus forestry, environmental stewardship and community engagement through initiatives like tree plantings, conservation projects and studentled sustainability efforts. The University continues to strengthen its campus environment while advancing long-term goals, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.

MultiFaith Council of NWO Recognized for Harmony Week Event
The MultiFaith Council of Northwest Ohio has received international recognition for its efforts during World Interfaith Harmony Week, earning third place in the 2026 HM King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week awards. The honor highlights the organization’s annual Faith Leader Breakfast, which brought together more than 40 participants representing 16 faith traditions to discuss religious pluralism, freedom of conscience and community collaboration. The recognition underscores the Council’s role in fostering dialogue, understanding and solidarity across Northwest Ohio’s diverse religious communities.
University of Toledo Honors Leadership Trailblazer with Pacemaker Award
University of Toledo has awarded its Pacemaker Award to Clinton O. Longenecker, recognizing his impact as a leadership expert, educator and community influencer. Presented by the Neff College of Business and Innovation, the honor is the institution’s highest distinction for business.
