Holiday Movies on Disney Plus

As the holiday season rolls on, it’s a cinch you’ll want to rediscover some old favorite movies, or discover new favorites you’ve never seen before. Luckily, the vast library of films available on Disney Plus means there’s a wide variety of seasonal magic for viewers of all ages.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983)

This animated tale may be short, only 26 minutes, but it’s nevertheless an effective and entertaining retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas fable. It also features the last time that legendary actor Clarence Nash would provide the iconic voice of Donald Duck.

Home Alone (1990)

One of the most surprising big hits of all time, this Chris Columbus film was written by the legendary John Hughes and made Macaulay Culkin a household name. It would spawn a whole franchise, the latest of which (Home Sweet Home Alone) debuted on Disney Plus in November.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

Another retelling of Dickens’ fable, this one feature length. This version not only has some great music and the wonderful irreverence that the Muppets bring to the proceedings, but also the invaluable work of legendary actor Michael Caine as Scrooge.

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? Why not both? Or better yet, any time of year is a perfect time to enjoy Henry Selick’s visionary animated film based on the imagination of Tim Burton.

The Santa Clause (1994)

Originally envisioned as a darker and more cynical comedy, The Santa Clause was retooled into a more family-friendly star vehicle for Tim Allen and became a major hit. Both of the franchise’s sequels are also available on Disney Plus.

LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special (2020)

Just released last year, this 44-minute animated special is a very fun time, with nods to almost every era of the Star Wars universe.
