A free thrift store and free food pantry are providing West Toledo residents help and service for their needs.
The Free Thrift Store, located at 4332 Monroe St., offers free clothing, toys and furniture to those who visit. Items that are donated to the store are clean and usable.
The Free Thrift Store began when Back2Life Deliverance Center Pastor Andre Cranford and his wife, Stacye, noticed a need for clothing and home items for the community.
They first started a giveaway of donated items 15 years ago, but the large growth in the event led to them obtaining a building.
The Greater Grace Church is also offering free services to the community through a food pantry.
Those who go to the food pantry will be able to fill a grocery cart full of free food. The food pantry offers fresh vegetables, meats, fruit, dairy products, sweets, bread and commodities.
There are no residency or income restrictions to receive food from the pantry, but the Greater Grace Church does ask to bring a valid form of identification.
A volunteer will escort each guest through every section within the pantry. They help with the selection process and can answer any questions a guest may have. According to the Greater Grace Church’s website, this allows the guests to get to know the volunteers.
The Free Thrift Store is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 am to 4 pm.
Donations for the Free Thrift Store are accepted with pickups available. To donate, call (734) 217-9025.
