The Straight Story (1999)

Imagine a film about an elderly gentleman who decides to travel across several states on a riding lawn mower. Now imagine that movie is created by surrealist director David Lynch. Now throw out everything you’re thinking, because The Straight Story is nothing like that. This road trip drama adapts the true story of Alvin Straight, a laborer who learns his brother has suffered a stroke. Since he’s lacking a driver’s license, Alvin decides to travel to see him the only way he can. The film was lauded by critics, and lead actor Richard Farnsworth was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar.

Streaming on Disney Plus.
