Grocery stores change hours to adapt for COVID-wary customers

Many of the biggest names in the food shopping game have been making changes in order to protect the public and their own employees— not to mention making allowances for individuals at high risk should they become infected with COVID-19.

Over the past several months, many area grocers have announced shorter business days, restricting the number of hours to allow for restocking and more exhaustive cleaning and sanitation of their stores. In addition, a number of merchants have announced special early shopping hours for senior citizens and other high-risk customers, so that those customers can be further isolated from potential infection.

If you’re still wary about venturing out for groceries, many stores offer delivery options, either in-house or through a third party.

Below is a list of area grocers who have either made changes to their schedule in response to COVID-19, or who offer at-home delivery.

(This list is not exhaustive, and if you know of any grocery stores that have made changes/allowances for customers that are not below, please contact us at editor@adamsstreetpublishing.com.)
